Mission Statement
My heart's desire is to break down barriers between parents and youth by providing common ground in Jesus Christ our Lord, through the universal language of music. As I serve the Lord in song, my prayer is that others might experience Christ through his work in me.
Biography
Christina Sanders realizes she has had a blessed life. Her parents, Bill and Cindy Sanders, both Christians, raised their children in church and with biblical values at home. Christina attended Christian school, became active in church ministries, and lived in what she refers to as a “perfect bubble” – a secure environment, protected from many of the distractions and temptations thrown before today’s young people.
Christina began her singing ministry at the age of 14 and hasn't slowed down since. As God continued to bless her ministry, she has had the pleasure of working with such artist as, Mercy Me, Salvador, Mark Lowry, Audio A, Katinas, Out of Eden, Joy Williams, Rachel Lampa, Jars of Clay, Nicole C. Mullin, and Sixpence None the Richer. Ministering as a high school student three to five times a month, created a challenge, but was a fulfilling experience as God continued to bless her.
Christina's testimony is transparent of a mature relationship with God. Her sophomore project, CLEAR, released early ‘07, delivers a message that resonates straight from the heart of His word. Powerful vocals come together with Grammy Award winning producer Danny Duncan that creates a style that is both appealing to adults and youth alike.
Testimony
“When I was five years old I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior,” says Christina, now 24. “Though my walk with the Lord has become a way of life for me, I never take for granted the personal relationship I share with him.”
When Christina entered 8th grade, she felt ready to expand that bubble a bit – and entered a performing arts school. It was an eye-opening experience as Christina got her first glimpse into what teenagers outside her “bubble” were getting themselves into. Soon, her bubble would do more than expand, it would nearly burst.
On a May evening in 1999, in her hometown of Tampa, Florida, the car Christina was riding in with friends was broadsided by a drunk driver. The damaged vehicle spun out of control into the path of an on-coming truck. The second collision threw the car onto the curb. The force of the impact ripped Christina’s seatbelt, and she was ejected from the car.
Miraculously, Christina not only survived the accident - she did so virtually unscathed! “The doctor at the emergency room said these kinds of accidents were usually fatal, but I didn’t even have any broken bones,” she says.
While escaping physically unharmed, Christina’s accident provided a harrowing glimpse into the reality of human life and its frailty. At that moment, Christina knew she had been given a second chance – a chance she needed to use in a meaningful way.
“I felt that it was God telling me, “Don't just take up space, do something for my glory, tell others the importance of being secure of their salvation, because they may never know when it's time to go home!”
Christina’s natural gift of music and a newly ignited fire for ministry led to a full-time pursuit of a Christian music career. Christina’s contemporary pop style and an open affinity for her fans quickly made her a favorite performer at church youth events, radio promotions, and festivals throughout the state of Florida. Her message of faith and purity resounded with a generation that seemed to be searching for more than an “anything goes” mentality. The overwhelming response confirmed to Christina that she needed to practice what she was preaching and step out a little farther in faith – she needed to take her ministry to a national platform.
So, just days after graduating high school, the then 18-year old packed up and left the security of her loving family and headed for Nashville. The ideal place, she felt, to create a new career base and expand her message. The professional move, however, made an unexpected demand on Christina personally.
“In the past, it was almost as if I got to live on a three way phone call with God, my parents, and me,” says Christina. “And all of a sudden it became a two-way call. It's just me and God! Daily devotions are just the two of us.”
Staying committed, without the accountability Mom and Dad had always provided, was now Christina’s responsibility. For the first time, she recognized the difficulties teenagers face every day as they set out for a life of independence – a life that Christina knew should not include independence from God.
“I feel an incredible burden to communicate a message that will help teens prepare for the challenges and temptations of being away from home for the first time,” she says. “God has continued to chip away at my life by providing life lessons. Lessons I feel compelled to share as a tool for teenagers seeking God as they head out on their own, not under the watchful eye of mom or dad.”
Those life lessons became Christina’s PureYouth Ministries, a workshop geared to teenagers, addressing the often tough topics of abstinence, purity, moral judgments, parental relationships, and how to stay connected to God.
It also spawned a new era in Christina’s music ministry. After a well-received independent album, her sophomore project, “Clear”, set to release early ‘07, includes songs co-written by Christina and is inspired by the increased clarity she derives from a continuing journey of faith. Christina’s powerful vocals, enhanced through the direction of Grammy Award winning producer Danny Duncan, reflect a maturity and experience uncommon for such a young performer.
